Unfortunately, the profanity (everywhere) and sexual content (mainly in chapters 19-22) definitely make this a novel for a mature audience. How spicy are those few chapters? If I were to put it on Buffalo Wild Wings spectrum of spicy, it would probably roll in around the Mango Habenero heat.

Amazing book, 14+ if childs is mature

The sex scene isn't as graphic as you would expect but you can skip it if you want.

It takes some more work to get her open enough for intercourse, but once she is, they make fast, desperate love. Adam climaxes while muttering about how long he had wanted this and how he can never let Olive go. Olive climaxes right behind him, shivering with pleasure.

Other than a few kisses and some romantic tension, there's only one sex scene, but it's extended, explicit, and meant to arouse.

I am not the biggest fan of books written in 3rd person because they usually make the characters seem very bland and disconnected, but Ali Hazelwood is able to write in 3rd person while preventing the characters from being 2-dimensional, which really blew me away.

When olive meets Adam for the first time, she's 23, and he's been working at the school for three years. We flash forward, so she becomes 26 and he supposedly 34. If he's been working there for six years.

I've noticed a lot of dislike about the book over this fact. The main characters, Adam and Olive, do share a very deep resemblance to Adam Driver and Daisy Ridley. (I mean look at the picture below and then look at the cover of “The Love Hypothesis”.)

Olive, our protagonist, is a PhD STEM student attending Stanford, and Adam, her love interest is a professor at the college. I was initially a little hesitant about this book because while the age gap between Olive and Adam isn't concerning, their power dynamic is.
